Ayda, married to Rock DJ star Robbie Williams, said her mum’s cervical cancer had come back more aggressively and had metastasized.

She revealed the family were given the devastating news two months ago, and Gwen, 74, has been trying to stay positive.

Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women today, Ayda told the panel: “This is a really tough thing for me to talk about.

“My mother – we don’t talk about stages in our house – and I say all of this after having discussed it with my mum that I was going to potentially discuss what she was going through.

“My mother said, ‘I so want you to tell this story, I just want to make sure it’s positive.’

“I am going to do my best and I am going to make this positive.”

An emotional Ayda continued: “My mother unfortunately has had a return of her cervical cancer and she is also a breast cancer survivor.

“The cancer has come back; we got the news a couple of months ago and I’ve just been privately processing it.”

Ayda also shared the devastating news with her followers on Instagram, telling them: “The news has been shocking and difficult for us all to privately process.

“She’s cried. I’ve cried. We’ve all cried together. There have been many moments of deep sadness.

“And yet, also moments of profound beauty and joy, in very unexpected ways.

“This is a battle. And what my mother has lost in hair and weight, she has more than gained in strength and bravery. I am lucky to have such a warrior mummy showing me the way.”

Ayda first shared her mum’s health battle four years ago.

Gwen faced an “aggressive” tumour after and was diagnosed with Stage Two cervical cancer.

She said: “It had spread outside the cervix and was a very aggressive tumour.

“Alongside her Parkinson’s and her lupus was this cancer battle, because the cancer was so big they decided that she immediately go into chemo and radiation daily and have surgery.

“It was very scary as my mum with Parkinson’s, lupus and cancer at 70 years old is prime for some bad things happening.

“So she was going to hospital every day for these treatments and I was worried she was going to pick something up.
