Wheeler Dealers star planning shock return – three years after quitting show
A WHEELER Dealers star is planning a shock comeback three years after leaving the programme.
The long-running motoring show has been on the air since 2003.
Ant Anstead joined the Wheeler Dealers team in 2017, ultimately leaving in 2021.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, the 45-year-old presenter revealed plans for a return to the programme.
He shared: “You know, I’m a huge fan of the show, first of all.
“And I’m incredibly proud of the stint that I did in the 22 year Wheel Dealers story.
“I’m very proud of what Elvis has done taking over the show.”
He added: “There’s been conversations. In fact, there’s conversations every three or four months about doing a special, doing something together.
“We were going to do something together on the 20th anniversary. And it just didn’t work out.
“But yeah, I think I, yeah. If Elvis ever, you know, took a break or Mike was like, I need a hand, I’d be there.
“Mike’s a great, great friend of mine and a great guy.
“You know, if Mike made the phone call, I’d obviously answer it.”
It comes as the mechanic returns to car restoration in a brand new show.
Ant is fronting an eight-part series titled Ant Anstead: The Naked Mechanic, transforming an old barn into his workshop.
Aside from bringing vehicles back to life, these are not the only restorations at play.
Wheeler Dealers presenters over the years

Wheeler Dealers has been on-screen since 2003, but its on-air team has changed multiple times.
Here is a look at the motoring show’s different presenters from over the years.
- Mike Brewer (Series 1 – present): Car trader turned presenter Mike has been part of Wheeler Days from its beginning. He remains active in the car industry, through Mike Brewer Motors.
- Edd China (Series 1 to Series 13): Edd was the show’s original mechanic, who’s also appeared on shows including Top Gear. He left Wheeler Dealers in 2017, after 13 series as co-host.
- Ant Anstead (Series 14 to Series 16): After Edd’s departure, Ant signed up as Wheeler Dealers’ new co-host. Ant’s arrival came at a time when the show was being filmed in the United States. He ultimately left when it was decided for the programme to return to the UK.
- Marc “Elvis” Priestley (Series 17 – present): The show’s current mechanic is Marc Priestley, nicknamed “Elvis”. Before his current gig on Wheeler Dealers, Marc worked for McLaren Racing as a Formula One mechanic and member of the pitstop crew from 2000-2009.
The barn is part of a 500-year-old farmhouse which Ant bought for his parents to retire in.
To help fund the house renovation, the profits made from restoring cars go towards his mum and dad’s dream home.
However, Ant is aware these restorations are a tricky task to take on alone.
He brought in family and friends to help tackle the two-fold restoration.
