Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Track Center named host of 2027 NCAA Indoor Championships
FAYETTEVILLE – The NCAA announced on Wednesday the University of Arkansas will serve as host for the 2027 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Previously, the Randal Tyson Track Center was awarded the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, so the Razorbacks will host the event in consecutive years.
In addition, Arkansas will also host the 2027 South Central Cross Country Regional at Agri Park in November as well as the 2028 NCAA West First Round at John McDonnell Field in May.
“For the 15th time, the NCAA has selected the University of Arkansas as the host for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “Our storied history in men’s and women’s track and field and our legacy of hosting championship events has resulted in another opportunity to host the nation’s best at the spectacular Randal Tyson Track Center.
“Fayetteville has always been a championship destination for track and field and in both 2026 and 2027 we will have a chance to showcase our program, campus and region once again.”
It marks the first time since 2017-2018 (College Station, Texas) that the same venue will host the indoor national championship meet in consecutive years.
Arkansas first hosted the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2000 and had a nine-year run showcasing the event. The Razorbacks also served as hosts in 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2021.
The upcoming NCAA Indoor Championships held at Tyson Center in 2026 and 2027 will be the 14th and 15th editions hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Since opening the Tyson Center in 2000, the Razorbacks home facility has been host to numerous world-class indoor meets, including 12 SEC Indoor Championships—most recently the 2024 conference meet— and 13 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, with 2021 the most recent.
Widely considered the fastest indoor surface ever constructed, the Tyson track has been home to numerous world records, American records and collegiate records. More than 20-plus years after it first opened its doors, the Randal Tyson Track Center is still one of the premiere indoor track and field venues in the world.
The Tyson Center venue features a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track that has 60-meter straightaways running the entire length of the facility. It also includes men’s and women’s jumping runways and pits. The surface of the track is red and gray Mondo and it was resurfaced prior to the start of the 2021 track and field season.
The adjacent Fowler Family Baseball and Track Training Center provides an expansive check in and warm up area for home meets and allows throwing events to be held on site.
