Nominations open for AFBC’s Architectural Achievement Awards
Nominations are now open for the AFBC’s Architectural Achievement Awards, which will be held next month.
For the first time, the AFBC will be hosting the awards to celebrate the work of architects as well as thank them for their professional service.
For several years, the AIBC recognized architects through its Recognition Program and Professional Service Awards, and this program has now transitioned to the AFBC. The Architectural Achievement Awards will be celebrated in alternating years with the Architectural Awards of Excellence for completed projects.
The Achievement Awards happen through nominations, so the AFBC is inviting people to nominate those who are deserving of recognition.
The Award categories include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Community Stewardship Awards and Barbara Dalrymple Memorial Award for Community Service.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was established by AIBC Council to recognize current or former Architects AIBC who have made significant contributions to the profession of architecture in British Columbia. One AIBC Lifetime Achievement Award may be bestowed annually, though an additional award may be bestowed posthumously.
The Community Stewardship Award recognizes architects who make significant contributions to the betterment of the community through innovative and socially responsible architectural principles and practices.
The Barbara Dalrymple Memorial Award for Community Service was established in honour of former MAIBC Barbara Dalrymple, a Vancouver architect with a commitment to her profession as well as the community. The award recognizes lifetime or exceptional contributions made by an Architect AIBC, other individual registrant or architectural firm, in the spirit of Dalrymple’s dedication to change. This award may annually be bestowed upon multiple individuals and/or firms.
