Vance vs. Walz what did the neurologist think?
No cognitive or psychiatric problems evident in either. Walz doesn’t look to be in the greatest physical shape and is way too heavy.
The best thing about the debate was how civil it was. Not every statement had to be contradicted by the other side, and there were points of agreement as they politely listened to each other. The country could use a lot more of that.
I did think that Vance was a lot smarter. Given the background events with Iran overshadowing the debate, it is remarkable that Vance was 2 years old when the Iranian hostage crisis resolved in 1981 as Reagan took office.
Vance did miss a very easy point after Walz brought up expert opinion saying that Trump’s economic plan would worsen inflation. Vance denigrated so-called expert opinion but apparently he was unaware of the following which appeared back in July 2024 when Biden was still running.
As noted by Investor’s Business Daily “Issues & Insights:”
“We have our hand on the Bible swearing we are not making this story up.
“A gang of 16 Nobel prize-winning economists signed a letter yesterday endorsing Joe Biden for president because: “There is rightly a worry that Donald Trump will reignite inflation with his fiscally irresponsible budgets.”
“But then our colleague, Scott Bessent, noticed something strange and ironic about the signatories: 13 of these economists signed a highly-publicized open letter three years ago assuring Americans that Biden’s “Build Back Better” spending spree would “ease longer-term inflationary pressures.”
“Then — whoops! — 18 months later inflation soared to 9.1% under Biden – the worst U.S. inflation in almost 40 years! This would be the medical equivalent of amputating the wrong leg…”
BTW, the first signer of both the 2021 and 2024 letters is George A Akerlof, who is Janet Yellen’s husband.
