AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A man faces a charge of driving while intoxicated after his involvement in a fatal crash in central Austin Sunday night, according to the Austin Police Department.

APD officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday to a three-vehicle crash in the 7500 block of Burnet Road.

APD said an initial collision occurred between an SUV and a motorcycle, followed by a secondary collision between a pickup truck and the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead. The drivers of the SUV and the pickup truck remained on scene.

According to APD, the driver of the pickup truck, identified by police as Andrew Lycan, was arrested and charged with a DWI. According to online records, Lycan was booked into the Travis County Jail on Sept. 30 and released after posting bond on Oct. 1.

KXAN has reached out to Lycan's attorney to request a comment and will update this story if we receive a response.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 68th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 73 fatalities, according to police.
