Crux Climbing's Pflugerville location opens
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — Austin-based climbing gym's Crux Climbing Center opened its third facility on Monday, and the Pflugerville location is its largest yet.
Crux Climbing Center COO Grace Nicholas said that the building, located at 18817 North Heatherwilde Blvd., is a step forward for the region's climbing community.
"We have such a good community in Austin. We have such close outdoor climbing, which has been awesome, and we're just really fortunate to be able to provide the Austin climbing community the facility they deserve," Nicholas said.
"We were excited that we've been able to, like always, improve each location," Nicholas said. "For this one, we have the taller walls. They go up to 58 feet."
The facility includes walls set up for bouldering, top top, lead climbing, speed climbing and for kids. It also has a yoga room, work rooms and a fitness center. Some of these facilities were present at Crux's other locations, but the new site has larger versions.
"It's not just for climbers. It's for yogis. It's for fitness people, everybody can come here, families, just to have a space to like, be in community, hang out and just like, grow together," she said. "It's our biggest location yet, and it's our first from the ground up."
