TANNERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Catskill Mountain Foundation is set to host a ribbon cutting and groundbreaking ceremony for the Orpheum Performing Arts Center, 6050 Main Street, on Oct. 17. The ribbon cutting will showcase the newly updated theater technical upgrades and the plans for the new dance studios.

The project will happen in multiple stages; the first being technical improvements. The first phase of the project has been completed, expanding the Orpheum’s technical capabilities and completing the design/engineering for the new building, Orpheum Studios.

The dance studios are part of the second phase. The studios will include energy saving features including geothermal heating and cooling systems and smart floors, combining heating, cooling, ventilation and energy storage in one.

The upgrades are part of Tannersville's Downtown Strategic Investment Plan to expand the center. Through the state's Downtown Revitalization Initiative, the Catskill Mountain Foundation was awarded $1,750,000 to expand the theater.

When fully finished, the Orpheum Performing Arts Center will be a two-story building with accessible space for all guests. Through improvements the foundation is able to expand its performing arts season and education programs for those in the village and surrounding areas.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a presentation of the updates. For more information and to reserve a spot at the event, visit the Catskill Mountain Foundation's website or by emailing morseh@catskillmtn.org.
