Speaking to the press ahead of the Europa League game against Ferencvaros on Thursday night, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has been discussing the injuries in his squad and how it will impact team selection.

Who’s out injured?

After seeing his side rocked by a severe injury crisis last season, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping the squad can get a bit more luck this term and put together a run of results without fitness issues.

Off the back of the win over Manchester United at the weekend, Tottenham’s injury list comprised of just four players, with Richarlison and Wilson Odobert expected to be out until later in October, Heung-min Son struggling with a slight hamstring strain, and Destiny Udogie potentially out, too.

The latter was replaced at half-time on Sunday afternoon, seemingly as a precaution. Son, however, missed the game entirely, after pulling up in Tottenham’s previous outing in the Europa League.

Son’s issue was not believed to be too significant heading into the weekend, but was not passed fit for the clash with the Red Devils.

Ange Postecoglou’s update on injuries

In his latest press conference, Postecoglou was asked about the small but growing injury list and what it means for the team moving forward.

He told the official Spurs site: “Sonny and Destiny are back in London. They’re working away, but they’re not available for this one. Everyone else from the weekend got through the game and is good to go.”

Spurs should be fine despite injuries

Ferencvaros is a game we would surely have been looking at making some rotations for anyway, so those injuries shouldn’t cause too much disruption to Postecoglou’s plans. I wouldn’t have wanted to see Sonny starting this one, and Udogie really does need a rest.
