World leaders react to Iran’s Missile attcks on Israel
Iran’s missile attack on Israel has sparked widespread reactions across the region and the world. In addition to the U.S., the U.K., and France, which have condemned the attack, many responses have called on all parties involved to avoid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Yesterday, the Islamic Republic of Iran launched more than 180 missiles, including several ballistic missiles, toward Israel. According to the White House, most of these missiles were intercepted and destroyed through the U.S., Israel, and Jordan joint efforts. However, Iran’s foreign minister claimed that 90% of the missiles bypassed interception and hit their targets, a claim that assessments have not confirmed.
The missile attack followed an Israeli operation codenamed “New Order,” during which Israel successfully eliminated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Nilforoushan, the deputy commander of Iran’s Quds Force, and several other Hezbollah commanders in a successful attack on Beirut.
This Israeli attack caused panic among Iranian officials. Reuters reported, citing Iranian sources, that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was moved to a secure location, reflecting Iran’s vulnerability in the face of Israeli assaults.
Amid increased Israeli attacks on Syria, Gaza, Yemen, and Lebanon, concerns over the spread of war in the Middle East had been growing. Ultimately, Iran launched around 180 missiles at Israel on Tuesday in response to the wave of Israeli strikes, drawing widespread regional and global reactions.
The United States openly “condemned” the attack and warned Iran of the consequences. Washington reaffirmed its support for Israel and added that it is in communication with Israeli officials about the response.
The U.K. and France also condemned Iran’s attack on Israel and emphasized their support for Israel. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in his first reaction, stated, “We stand with Israel and recognize its right to defend itself against aggression.”
Canada also condemned Iran’s attack on Israel. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reiterated, “We renew our call for de-escalation across the region and for the safety of all civilians.”
Spain, Germany, and Japan also condemned Iran’s attack on Israel, urging for de-escalation and peace in the Middle East.
