Police were today investigating the expat’s death but well-placed sources said there was nothing at this stage pointing to it being suspicious.
The woman, who has not been named, was discovered lying on the floor of her living room in the town of Soller in the northern part of Majorca yesterday night.
The alarm was raised around 10.30pm.
Local police were mobilised along with emergency medical responders.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Civil Guard which is reporting to a court in the Majorcan capital Palma but has yet to make any official comment.
The exact nature of the suspected “domestic accident” the British woman is said to have suffered has not been outlined, although she is understood to have had a head injury.
She is thought to have moved to Soller several years ago with her husband after taking early retirement.
She has only been identified locally so far by her initials – E.V.K.
The tragedy comes after a Brit dad-of-four fell to his death on his first ever lads holiday in Benidorm.
Nathan Osman, 30, became separated from his pals after a night out and couldn’t find his way back.
Spanish police are investigating but Nathan’s family in Pontypridd, South Wales have been told he suffered a fatal fall.
The Spanish authorities are continuing to investigate but are treating the death as a tragic accident.
An inquest will be held in the UK after his body has been repatriated.
