LUS Fiber expands internet, phone services to Church Point
CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) -- LUS Fiber has expanded its all-fiber network to residents and businesses in Church Point, the service provider announced on Tuesday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at Church Point Community Center to celebrate the expansion.
According to a news release, the expansion was made possible by a grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to bring advanced telecommunications to underserved areas.
Church Point Mayor Ryan 'Spanky' Meche said access to reliable high-speed internet is critical for the continued development of the community.
"This expansion not only improves the lives of our residents but also enhances opportunities for businesses, education, and healthcare in our town. LUS Fiber’s work here is a tremendous step forward for our community," Meche said in the news release.
The expansion will bring "state-of-the-art internet and phone services" and a network capable of supporting the growing needs of the community, according to the service provider.
Michael D. Soileau, LSU Fiber director, said the service provider is proud to expand its services to Church Point, "fulfilling our mission to bring high-quality broadband infrastructure to communities most in need."
“Through this expansion, we are contributing to the long-term development of the region, helping residents and businesses stay connected and thrive in today’s digital world," Soileau continued.
