Celebrating the life of former Washburn President Jerry Farley at the Topeka Zoo

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The public is invited to an event later this month to celebrate the life of former president of Washburn University Jerry Farley at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center.

From 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, you can learn about Farley's impact on education and aviation in Kansas. After a presentation on his legacy online story called "The Journey of a Life", Farley will be awarded the prestigious Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award.

"Dr. Farley has had a profound impact on education and aviation in Kansas. As president of Washburn University, he guided the institution through significant growth and transformation, enhancing its reputation and expanding its academic offerings. His leadership strengthened the university's mission and inspired countless students to pursue their dreams."

The event will be held at Kay McFarland's Japanese Garden and Venue at the Topeka Zoo. Guests will have a selection of sandwiches, chips, cookies and more. The zoo encourages guests to RSVP by Oct. 10. To RSVP, click here.
