Watch: Tim Walz and J.D. Vance's first — and only — debate
A much-anticipated debate was set Tuesday night between Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN).
The debate on CBS in New York will be the first and only scheduled debate between the two and will air at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
Robert Rowland, a University of Kansas professor of communication studies who has written about political messaging, has said the two men face similar tasks of avoiding embarrassing flubs while making people more comfortable with them.
“I do think it means this debate is important,” Rowland told the Kansas Reflector. “I think the potential for a gaffe is important.”
