Why Does Taylor Swift Keep Skipping Chiefs Games?
For the past two Chiefs games, Taylor Swift has been nowhere to be seen. Simultaneously, Travis Kelce’s “slow start” to his season has been messing things up for anyone who drafted him in fantasy football. The last time we saw them together was two weeks ago, when the Chiefs played the Bengals in Kansas City. So what’s up with these two? Trouble in paradise?
According to a source who spoke to “Page Six,” there are “no romance woes.” Phew! Apparently, they’re both just really busy right now. The Eras Tour starts up again (this is the last leg, I promise) in two weeks, and Swift is in rehearsals. Meanwhile, Kelce’s schedule is jam-packed as well. He has his regular job (playing football), he hosts his podcast, he’s in a new Ryan Murphy show, he’s doing ads for Pepsi and Lowe’s, and in a couple of weeks he’ll be making his hosting debut on Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? The trailer for that dropped today. Let’s watch!
Now, some people might look at this and say that Kelce’s subpar performance this season could be explained by the fact that he spent his offseason hosting an Amazon Prime game show. Not me, though. If you told me that instead of focusing on my day job, I could be getting paid to hang out with Nicole Byer, I’d be gone in a heartbeat. I get it.
And while the tabloids have been breathlessly covering Swift’s absence at Chiefs games, the answer has been fairly obvious the whole time: The last two Chiefs games have been away games.
“If she is going to a place that isn’t Arrowhead, there are security concerns,” the same source explained. “She has worked with Arrowhead so many times. They feel at ease and comfortable. Going to all kinds of different stadiums, you need to send a team in advance.” Security around Swift has been heightened recently after she had to cancel her Vienna shows owing to a planned terrorist attack. You could understand why she might not want to jet down to Atlanta on a whim.
In conclusion, their relationship is doing just fine. I imagine we’ll see Swift next Monday, when the Chiefs return to Arrowhead Stadium. As for Kelce’s performance? Well, it might be underwhelming, and he is certainly running the risk of becoming overexposed, but when it comes to navigating those waters, he has the perfect person in his corner.
