10/1/2024: Foggy and a bit cooler to kick off October

0

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

Another day, another foggy morning commute! The first drive to work of October may be a bit dicey, especially in the Adirondack where visibility is especially low.

We're again caught between high pressure and clear skies to our north, and low pressure and unsettled skies to our south. The net result will be a mix of sun and clouds overhead once the fog dissipates, with highs in the upper 60's to low 70's.

Partly cloudy and mostly mild tonight, with lows in the upper 40's to low or mid 50's. A bit more fog may develop by daybreak.

Tomorrow looks cloudier with a front approaching from the west. Showers will push into the Adirondacks, Mohawk Valley, and Catskills just after lunchtime, but will be fading fast fast they move further east. Rain chances are therefore low in the Capital District, and you are more likely to stay dry in western New England.

Better and brighter for Thursday and much of Friday. Showers return late that evening and into the first part of Saturday.

We'll clear out for Saturday afternoon, and stay bright through the day Sunday. It'll be a very "October feel" to the tail end of the weekend, with a cool, crisp morning and afternoon highs only in the upper 60's. More rain chances to follow on Monday.
