Inflation in Europe falls below 2%, opens way for faster rate cuts

FRANKFURT, Germany, 1st October, 2024 (WAM) -- Inflation in the 20 countries that use the euro fell to 1.8 percent in September, below the European Central Bank's target of 2 percent for the first time in more than three years, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday.

The falling energy prices have given consumers relief from a burst of inflation that at one point reached into double digits.
