Pete Rose has died at age 83, according to reports.

ESPN’s Eduardo Perez relayed the news initially during a telecast earlier on Monday evening.

There are eons of words that have been spilled about Rose over his lifetime, and are sure to be just as many now that he has passed. I have long had an agreement with myself that I was not going to continue to give the man who put himself before the Cincinnati Reds franchise, the sport of baseball, and so many others for so long any additional words, so I’ll leave this at that.

Perhaps stumbling across the numerous inevitable fluff pieces about him in the coming days will change that.
