Virat Kohli becomes quickest batter in 147 years to achieve THIS feat, even Sachin Tendulkar couldn’t get close…
Former India captain Virat Kohli achieved a remarkable record on Day 4 of the rain-hit second Test vs Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Monday. Kohli, like most of the Indian batters, came out all guns blazing and raced to 42 off 29 balls by the time he crossed 35 runs in the first innings of the game achieved a remarkable milestone that no other batter has been able to achieve in 147 years of international cricket.
Kohli completed 27,000 international runs and became the first-ever batter to complete this feat in less than 600 innings. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batter has managed to complete this massive feat in 594 innings.

The Indian batter zoomed past Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record of reaching 27,000 runs in 623 innings. Kohli is now just the 4th batter ever after Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara to have scored more than 27,000 runs.
The 35-year-old was also the fastest to 25,000 runs, which he achieved in February 2023 and fastest to 26,000 which he reached in October 2023. In Test cricket, Kohli now has 8,918 runs with 29 hundreds and 30 fifties.
Kohli, who was batting very fluently in the company of KL Rahul putting on 87 runs for the 5th wicket, was dismissed for 47 off 35 balls with 1 six and 4 fours. In ODI cricket, Kohli has already notched up 13,906 runs in 295 ODIs with 50 hundreds and 72 fifties at an amazing average of 58.18.
The batter has announced his retirement from T20I cricket after scoring 4,188 runs in 125 matches at an average of 48.69 with 1 hundred and 38 fifties. Former Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Sangakkara had crossed 27,000 runs in 648 innings while former Australian skipper Ponting had achieved this feat in 650 innings.
