Woman reveals SHOCKING details of sexual trauma faced by girls in Osho’s cult

London: Known for his teachings on meditation, love, and the nature of existence, Osho, also known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, was an Indian spiritual teacher and philosopher. However, there are several allegations and controversies surrounding Osho. Recently, a 54-year-old woman has recounted her painful experience of being raised in the infamous sex cult of Indian godman Rajneesh.

Osho remained a controversial figure leading a hedonistic lifestyle, focusing on his teachings about sexuality and the libertine culture within the commune. A woman has come forward to reveal shocking information about the sexual trauma experienced by girls within Osho’s cult.

In an interview with The Times, Prem Sargam described the pervasive sexual abuse she suffered from the age of six in three different Sannyasin communities. It all began when she was six years old when Prem Sargam’s father left their home in the United Kingdom(UK) to join the cult’s ashram in Pune. He pursued spiritual enlightenment as a sannyasin, leaving Prem Sargam and her mother behind.

Founded in the 1970s, the Rajneesh cult drew Western followers in search of spiritual enlightenment. However, beneath its serene facade lay a troubling secret: the exploitation and abuse of children.

Soon, Ms. Sargam became entangled in the cult. Sangam was even compelled to adopt a new name, wear orange robes, and embrace a philosophy that considered children as hindrances to their parents’ sexual freedom. As per The Times report, Sangam recalled, “The other message of sannyasin teaching, both unlawful and shattering, was quickly assimilated by those joining the cult.” Within the cult, pedophilia(paedophilia) was normalized.

Sharing a post on X(previously Twitter), Documentary filmmaker Maroesja Perizonius wrote, “Pleased to announce the release of my new feature doc ‘Children of the Cult’, which will be screened in cinemas in the UK and broadcast on ITV Exposure on 13 October 2024.”

“While making this film Children of the Cult I was helped immensely by @Janja_Lalich ‘s brilliant book Take Back Your Life – a must for anyone having lived in a cult as a child. Thank you Janja for all your hard work on it #takebackyourlife #childrenofthecult,” the post further reads.

From the age of seven, Prem Sargam was abused.  By the age of twelve, she was raped. She remembered clearly the bewilderment and discomfort she had experienced as a young member of the cult. While she was between the ages of 7 and 11, she and her pals were forced to perform sexual acts on adult men who lived in the commune. Things kept worsening.

However, the abuse did not end there. Prem Sargam was subsequently sent to the Medina ashram in Suffolk, where she found herself alone and vulnerable, under the pretense of participating in a “boarding school” program. By the age of 12, she had moved to the US, where she joined her mother at an ashram in Oregon. “It was only at 16 that I understood what had happened”, she was quoted as saying to The Times.

Osho’s movement advocated for the idea that children should be exposed to sexuality, suggesting that adult men should guide girls during puberty. Sargam reflects that it was viewed as advantageous for children to be exposed to sexuality.

Numerous former members of his commune reported instances of sexual abuse and exploitation, particularly involving minors.
