TikTok star, who went viral by marrying herself dies by suicide: ‘I urgently…’
New Delhi: TikToker and social media influencer Kubra Aykut who gained global attention and shot to fame on the internet with her viral video “Wedding without a Groom”, died after she fell from the fifth floor of her luxury apartment in in Istanbul’s Sultanbeyli district in Turkey.
She was 26.
According to the Turkish media, Kubra Aykut was found dead in Istanbul last week and a suicide note was found near her body.
The authorities have launched a probe into her death while her body had been sent for post-mortem analysis. Her funeral will be organised at her hometown where her parents live.
Numerous TikTok celebrities are anticipated to be present at the funeral, while fans have inundated her social media with sincere tributes, referring to the young woman as ‘an angel’ and a person with ‘a beautiful heart’.
As news of her passing spread, numerous fans observed that her recent social media posts had grown alarmingly worrisome. It has been reported that in her last TikTok video, she appeared to be tidying her apartment just moments before her tragic fall from the building.
Aykut, who had over one million followers on TikTok and more than 200,000 on Instagram, had also made several post about struggling to gain weight.
“I’ve gathered my energy, but I can’t seem to gain weight. I lose a kilogram every day. I don’t know what to do; I urgently need to gain weight,” she wrote in her last post.
In 2023, Aykut soared to fame on TikTok for hosting an opulent wedding solo. She donned a white gown and tiara, symbolically marrying herself, declaring, “I cannot find a worthy groom for myself.”
