Eatery serving pan pizzas to take over spot that housed SuperChef's in Gahanna
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – An eatery serving pan pizzas is taking over the building that previously housed the recently closed breakfast restaurant SuperChef’s in Gahanna.
In July, Newark pizzeria Pizza Nerds announced it would be moving to Gahanna. While co-owner Brent Gargasz said he could not give an address when he previously talked to NBC4, he has since announced the pizzeria will open at 1376 Cherry Bottom Road, the unit that previously housed a breakfast spot called SuperChef’s.
“They've been in business for 10-plus years, and that's quite an accomplishment,” Gargasz said, “I wish them the best in all their future endeavors, and whatever [Superchef’s Owner Ryan Bryson] does, I know he's going to be successful.”
Pizza Nerds serves what Gargasz describes as their own take on “Detroit-style” pizza, featuring edge-to-edge cheese, sauce on top of the cheese and toppings. The pizzeria is also known for its cookies stuffed with fillings such as chocolate and icing.
After the move, the shop will be expanding its menu with thinner pizzas, and possibly adding a new brownie and salad, according to Gargasz.
The pizzeria first opened in 2022. Gargasz said complications with a co-tenant in the eatery’s Newark restaurant led to Pizza Nerds making the move to Gahanna.
“We're just really excited to get started and start to see our customers again,” Gargasz said. “We miss everybody.”
Gargasz said he is aiming to open the pizza shop in early December.
