'Its been tears for two years': Mother of Topeka homicide victim speaks on anniversary of death

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Today, September 30, 2024, marks the two year death anniversary of Keith Gaylord Jr. Gaylord Jr. was shot and killed at Meadowlark apartments in southwest Topeka back in 2022.

Gaylord Jr. was 23 at the time of his death. He was a native Topekan who graduated from Topeka High School and attended online school at Allan Community College. He is remembered by his mother, Tracy Jones, who continues to search for answers surrounding her son's death every day.

"To this day two years later I'm still in shock," Jones said. "Somebody knows what's going on. I just want them to please come forward, please come forward and just help me." 

Jones has placed flyers around the city of Topeka and posted them on social media in hopes someone with information comes forward. The case has been cold for two years now with no leads in the investigation.

"Help me please. Just give my son justice so I can have closure," Jones said.

KSNT 27 News reached out to the Topeka Police Department asking for any updates in the case. They responded with no new information and ask that all tips related be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
