Tottenham’s injury list explained – How long is each player out for?
Tottenham Hotspur’s squad has improved massively over the last few transfer windows, but there is always the fear that an injury crisis could hit again. Keep up to date with the latest absentees on Tottenham’s injury list and find out when they’ll return.
Ange Postecoglou will be praying he never has to endure another period of injuries to top players like he experienced in his first season at Spurs.
Changes have been made behind the scenes to prevent another crisis, but injuries are part and parcel of football, sadly.
So, which members of the squad are on Tottenham’s injury list right now, what’s wrong with them, and when can we see them play again? Here are all the details you need.
Which Spurs players are injured at the moment?
At present, Spurs have two longer-term injuries in Richarlison and Wilson Odobert. The pair have been out for a few weeks and still have a way to go before they are match-fit.
Tottenham captain Heung-min Son is also struggling, while Destiny Udogie is possibly nursing an injury, though he may just be fatigued.
Richarlison
Richarlison has been hit with a number of injuries during his time at Tottenham, but after undergoing surgery and rehabilitation through the summer, he did return to action at the start of the season.
However, he has suffered another setback and has not played since the Everton game on August 24. Postecoglou said the striker was “a fair way off” full fitness on September 20 (Football.London). In more positive news, Richarlison was spotted training on grass on September 27, which is a good sign.
Injury: Lower leg, specifically calf/shin/heel
Potential return date: October 19, 2024
Wilson Odobert
The new signing put together a decent run in the team and impressed in Tottenham colours, but his exciting start to life at Spurs was cut short by what Postecoglou described as a “significant” injury picked up in the Carabao Cup tie with Coventry on September 18.
It was reported by L’Equipe (as relayed by Sport Witness) on September 21 that Odobert would be out of action for around one month.
Injury: Hamstring
Potential return date: October 19, 2024
Heung-min Son
The Spurs skipper had been ever-present this season, but he pulled up in the 70th minute of the Europa League game against Qarabag on September 26 and had to be replaced. At the time, Postecoglou said Son was “tired” and that he would be assessed (Football.London).
Son was ruled out of the Premier League game against Manchester United on September 29. The full extent of the issue is not known, but it’s not thought to be too serious. Son may be reintroduced for the game against Ferencvaros on October 3, but will more likely be rested until the weekend.
Injury: Hamstring
Potential return date: October 3, 2024
Destiny Udogie
At the time of writing, it is not known whether Udogie is actually injured or not. We’ve included him on Tottenham’s injury list as a precaution at this stage.
The young Italian, much like Richarlison, had gone through a period of rehabilitation through the summer. Udogie has looked fine this season, though, but pulled up with a potential issue in the 3-0 win against Manchester United on September 29.
He played on for the rest of the first half, but was replaced at the interval. After the game, Postecoglou told Football.London that the decision was made not to take a risk on overworking Udogie. So, it’s very likely the left-back is fine, but we’ll keep an eye on that situation.
Injury: Quadriceps strain
Expected return date: October 3, 2024
