Strike by over 1,000 Samsung workers enters third week in India
NEW DELHI, India: A strike at a Samsung India Electronics plant near Chennai has entered its third week, with more than 1,000 workers demanding higher wages and official recognition of their union.
The strike, which began on September 9, centers on a call for a 25 to 30 percent pay increase for workers earning between 30,000 and 35,000 rupees (US$425) per month, according to union spokesman K.C. Gopi Kumar.
