Finnish population could hit almost 6m in 2040 if immigration continues at recent level

FINLAND has witnessed record-high levels of immigration in the past two years.

MDI, a Helsinki-based regional development consultancy, pointed out in its newly published population forecast that the number of new immigrants has surged by tens of thousands in the past two years, from 30,000 in 2021 to 70,000 in 2023.
