LOGAN, Ohio (WCMH) – A man convicted of a fatal stabbing in a Hocking County rental cabin will serve at least 18 years in prison.

On Aug. 26, a Hocking County jury found 21-year-old Isaac Pence guilty of murder, felonious assault and obstruction of justice for the murder of 22-year-old Charles Starner. Pence, of Carroll, and Starner, of Lancaster, were staying in a rental cabin on Sullivan Road, east of Clear Creek Metro Park and north of Rockbridge Nature Preserve.

According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Pence stabbed Starner during a party at the cabin on April 23, 2023. Starner was flown to Grant Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Two days later, Pence and 21-year-old Sabra Flagg were found in Fairfield County and arrested. Flagg was charged with obstruction of justice, though both received a bond of $1 million.

On Wednesday a Hocking County judge sentenced Pence to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 18 years.

Flagg’s attorney recently filed a motion for a change of plea hearing, which is to take place on Monday, according to court records.
