HONG KONG - Saagar Pradhan (4-0, 2 KO’s) made it a short night for Passakron Yakkala (7-3,5 KO's) of Thailand in the main event of the fight card billed as “THE ENCOUNTER”.  In the opening round, Yakkala was dropped by a body shot for the first knockdown of the fight. He got up but Pradhan did not give him a chance to recover and targeted him with head shots. Yakkala was slammed down hard to the canvas for the second knockdown, prompting Referee Danrex Tapdasan to stop the contest.

Pradhan celebrated with his newly minted WBO Asia Pacific Youth junior middleweight title belt. This was the first time in five years that a fight card in Hong Kong had a title at stake.

In the supporting main bout , local female attraction Sheau Ru Yang (7-0,3KO’s), otherwise known as RuRu Yang, beat Pornnapus Katipatee (1-4) from Thailand by unanimous decision. It was an entertaining give and take affair but Yang was busier and landed more shots. The scores – 60-54 and 59-55 twice.

Yang, who is Hong Kong’s first woman pro-boxer to win a major title, the WIBA superbantamweight crown, last May in Thailand.

Filipino prospect Ben John Rey Yagahon (6-0, 6KO’s) remained unbeaten after stopping Thailand’s Teerachai Saewang (4-1, 3KO’s) by a body blow in the first round. Hong Kong’s Hon Ki Lam (4-0-1,3KO’s)  bloodied and stopped Wan Qirui of China in round two.  In a battle of local fighters making their pro debut, Jay Razaq beat Chong Ping Kei by unanimous verdict.

The show was promoted by Verano Promotions.
