Pre Norwich match chat
Quick turnaround of games this coming week so an early pre match thread after our best performance of the season.
Live on Sky Sports on Tuesday at 7:45pm.
We visit Carrow Road to play Norwich City.
A Championship veteran in Daniel Farke with over 100 Championship games to his name (most of them for our opponents).
Vs
Johannes Hoff Thorup who is only 7 games into his Championship journey and at 35 years old is one of the youngest managers in the country.
After an iffy start to the season which saw Norwich lose to newly promoted Oxford they have found a bit of form.
Won the last 2 and scored 7 goals.
In form winger Borja Sainz is the danger man and was the hat-trick hero vs Derby earlier today taking his tally to 6.
In an interesting mirror of our own situation striker Josh Sargent is having a bit of a struggle in front of goal with only 2 goals (and has already missed 7 big chances as defined by Opta). But he does have 3 assists which suggests much like our own Mateo Joseph his finishing is an issue but his all round game is doing just enough to keep his critics at bay.
On the opposite side Norwich are looking less than convincing defensively, they've already conceded 9 goals which is the 2nd most in the top half and have only managed 1 clean sheet.
But confidence will be high having beaten Derby County today and they will be keen to extend the running win to 3 games and take them to 14 points in 8 games.
Should be said one of the Norwich goals shouldn't have been allowed as the ball had gone out of play
From our point of view a moral boosting win and most importantly performance today should see us go to Norwich full of confidence.
Players like Tanaka, Ramazani and Bogle hopefully taking confidence from today and the increasing influence of Aaronson and Gnonto in showing maybe they can replace Summerville and Rutter effectively should give great belief to the players.
Off the back of one of our most complete performances under DF and one that hopefully sets the tone, standard and most importantly tactical setup for the rest of the season we have nothing to fear.
However we do have fitness and injury worries.
Not least Captain Ethan Ampadu coming off with a nasty looking knock.
If he can't make it then Tanaka stays in? Or would people prefer the experience of Rothwell?
People like Struijk and Firpo may not be in the best physical shape, is an argument to be made for a change or two ?
Can Joseph do another shift so soon after?
Or simply don't change a winning team?
