Will India play ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan? PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to meet Jay Shah in Dubai
New Delhi: Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, was recently elected as the chairman of the ICC. He will also start his tenure on 1st December. The Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan next year will be his first big event. There is still suspense over the Indian team’s visit to Pakistan in this tournament.
Meanwhile, a big update has come out. According to Pakistani media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi is going to meet Jay Shah next month during the Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. During this, he is going to demand the ICC to approve the schedule of the Champions Trophy. Along with this, there will also be talks on the participation of the Indian team in the tournament.
Will Jay Shah take the historic move after 16 years?
The Champions Trophy is to be held from 19th February to 9th March. The PCB is pushing to get it held entirely in Pakistan. According to a report by Pakistani website Geo SuperTV, Mohsin Naqvi and Jai Shah may meet in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in Dubai. During this, he is going to try to get the entire tournament held there by convincing India to come to Pakistan. In such a situation, it remains to be seen whether Jai Shah is kind to Pakistan or not. Pakistan’s entire preparation depends on his decision.
Team India last visited Pakistan 16 years ago in 2008. There has been no bilateral series between the two countries after 2012-13. According to the PCB schedule, if Team India goes to Pakistan, its base will be in Lahore. Although Pakistan has put forward this proposal on its behalf, Jai Shah’s decision will depend on the Indian government. Players will be able to go to Pakistan only after the permission of the Indian government. BCCI has also said this.
An official announcement may be made in October:
The official announcement of the Champions Trophy schedule by the ICC may be made in October. Meanwhile, the repair of the stadium is going on in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board has also started provisional booking. All the tournament information will be finalized as soon as the green signal is received from ICC Chairman Jay Shah.
If the Indian team goes to Pakistan, then more solid preparations will be needed, which will take time. Therefore, the PCB chairman wants to meet Jay Shah as soon as possible to decide on everything.
ICC delegation inspected:
