BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announces match fees of Rs 750000 per game for players in IPL 2025

New Delhi: Ahead of the IPL auction, everyone is waiting for the retention rules and players in and out announcement. Meanwhile, the BCCI Secretary announced the match fees of the cricketers in IPL which is 7.5 lakhs per game. For a cricketer who is playing all league matches in a season will get INR 1.05 crores in addition to the player’s contracted amount.

The BCCI secretary took upon X (Formerly Twitter) and wrote:

“In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the IPL and our players!”

When will BCCI announce the IPL 2025 retention policy?

The BCCI is expected to come out with the retention rules for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League on Saturday (September 28). As per a Cricbuzz report, the governing council of the IPL was supposed to meet in Bengaluru, and the announcement should be made within the next 24 hours. This would decide the way the teams think and would put out strategies for the next season.

According to the reports, the meeting of IPL Governing Council has been planned to be held today at 11:30 AM at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru. As it’s going to include discussions on the retention rules with other big points related to the upcoming 2025 season of IPL.

Although it is not clearly defined how many retentions are possible for the team in the new season of the Indian Premier League, official speculations have already reported that the same will be between 2 and 8 retentions. According to reports, the BCCI may take the middle road and 5-6 retentions per team along with the Right to Match, also known as RTM, might be opted for.
