A’s vs. Mariners game thread
Home stretch in the Pacific Northwest
Yesterday wasn’t easy for anyone under any regard.
After saying goodbye to their home of nearly 60 years the A’s now still have to wrap up their 2024 campaign this weekend. Today, they start their last series of the season on the road against the Seattle Mariners for a best-of-three.
It’s JP Sears 32nd and last start of the season. Sears has been the A’s best and most dependable arm all year so it’s only fitting he’ll kick-off the last series of 2024. He’s 0-2 against the Mariners on the season, however, despite giving a pair of valiant efforts. Let’s get this guy a win!

Yesterday wasn’t an easy day for the Mariners either; they were eliminated from playoff contention after being in the thick of both the American League West and Wild Card race all season.
Sitting three games behind both the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers with three games remaining, both the Tigers and Royals hold the tiebreaker over the now lifeless M’s. And for a team that really gave their fanbase a lot to be hopeful and excited for this season, the Mariners couldn’t have had a more sour and underwhelming ending. That is, unless, they get swept this weekend.
Manager Dan Wilson didn’t announce his starting pitcher until earlier today but he’ll be opting for Bryan Woo, the local kid who’s had his way against the A’s this season. He’s 2-0 against the green and gold surrendering two runs in 15.1 innings thrown. Here’s the lineup that will be behind Woo tonight:
