Grand opening of housing in North Hollywood for those now living in shelters

0

The grand opening on Friday, Sept. 27, of the Goldfinch Apartments in North Hollywood, known as “permanent supportive housing” makes the seventh such development backed by Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian in his district. The project is focused on those who need “supportive services in addition to shelter.”

Amenities at the new development include a case management office to help the residents, a conference room, a learning center, bicycle storage, a large courtyard and a laundry room. According to Krekorian’s prepared statement, the “innovative modular construction” used to build the Goldfinch Apartments is cost-effective and helps the city address urgent housing needs.

Some of the units in the Goldfinch Apartments will be immediately occupied by people living in interim shelters in District 2.

Krekorian cited several permanent support housing facilities he has backed in District 2, including the 50-unit NoHo 5050 and the more than 100-unit Sun Commons complex. With the completion of the Goldfinch Apartments, seven such projects have been built in District 2, creating more than 450 units of housing aimed at addressing homelessness, according to Krekorian’s statement.
