Rajasthan Viral Video: A video has gone viral on social media showing Ashu Bairwa, the son of Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, driving an open-hooded jeep along with three other young men, while being escorted by two vehicles of the Rajasthan Police, triggering a debate over the alleged misuse of state resources by VVIPs and their kin.

The reel was first shared by Kartikeya Bhardwaj– a Congress leader’s son, who was among the three other teens who accompanied Ashu on his joyride.

“Raajneeti ho ya sadak, hum har jagah apni chal chalate hain (Politics or the roads, we always make our move)”, Kartikeya, the son of Congress leader Pushpendra Bhardwaj, captioned the video shared on his Instagram page.

In the video, Ashu and his friends, including Kartikeya, are seen enjoying joyride in an open jeep on a rainy day while two police vehicles — one in front, and the other behind the jeep– escort the teens.

The viral clip, which has been widely shared and viewed on social media platforms, sparked an outrage from users who lambasted VVIPs like Prem Chand Bairwa for the misuse of public resources for their personal enjoyment.

Many users also pointed out the irony that while Bairwa holds the Transport Department portfolio, his son is seen flouting traffic rules in broad daylight without any fear of the law.

Meanwhile, following outrage, Prem Chand Bairwa tried to downplay the incident, asserting he castigated his son for his act, while also trying to shift the blame on the “other children” who he claimed “misled” his son.

“I got to know about it from the social media. My son has just passed his senior level and those (visible in the video) are his school friends and they are well-off financially. Those friends had cars, he went and sat in that car. As soon as I came to know about it, I called him. I don’t have a car right now. My wife has a car in my village… I don’t want any problem to arise in my party or anywhere else because of me. That is why I apologise for the fact that my son went with those children. He will not do such a thing and I have explained it to him…,” Bairwa said, according to news agency ANI.

The Rajasthan Deputy CM asserted that his son was not responsible for the situation, and also justified the presence of police vehicles escorting the teens, stating that the police team was part of his son’s security detail.
