THIS IAS officer made a class 12 student DM for 2 hours in THIS Uttar Pradesh town; here’s what happened next
What would happen if a high school student was handed the charge of running an entire district? Would the young person even be mature enough to realize the mountain of responsibilities which come as part and parcel of the top post or will her or she merely enjoy that fleeting moment of fame and then go about their merry way.
These were the questions on everyone’s mind when this ‘What If’ scenario became a reality in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh where District Magistrate (DM) Divya Mittal, invited Khushi Mani Tripathi, a Class 12 student, to literally step into her shoes and act as the DM of the district for two hours.
Here’s what happened when IAS officer Divya Mittal offered her chair, and unofficially delegated her powers to the young girl:
According to reports, Khushi Tripathi, who was selected by Mittal after a rigorous interview process, displayed maturity and understanding of the job at hand. During her short “tenure” as acting DM, the bright young girl not only listened to public grievances, but also issued directives to public officials under her command, showcasing leadership qualities beyond her years.
After the end of her tenure, Khushi, an academic prodigy who secured 92 percent marks in her class 10 exams, narrated her experience of being in the top post, saying that the episode has reinforced her will of serving the nation and its people by becoming an officer in the future.
