In the second frame of the match, he came to the table and brilliantly put away a red and then a pink to wrap up the century and score 101.

Fans inside the arena in Cheltenham were on their feet applauding Trump.

He had a huge grin on his face, acknowledging the cheers by putting his arm up to the crowd.

In a classy moment, opponent Allen also joined in and clapped the former world champion.

Trump is just the third player to ever reach the milestone after Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins.

The current world No1 has also hit the figure quicker than both of his rivals.

O’Sullivan was 43-years-old when got there and Higgins was 49.

It took both of them 27 and 33 years on tour respectively to hit 1000 centuries – but Trump needed only 20 seasons.

Fans were full of praise for him, with one saying: “Top achievement from a special, generational talent.”

Another added: “Lovely moment, a great player.”

Should Trump defeat Allen tonight, he will play Mark Selby in the semi-final tomorrow.
