Erik ten Hag is doing a good job

After a stuttering start to the campaign, Spurs are now on a run of three straight wins in all competitions. They will be looking to build on the impressive victory over Brentford last weekend, but a stern test awaits in Manchester.

Erik ten Hag’s men have registered back-to-back draws, and will be looking to bounce back with a statement win at home against a fellow top-six rival.

Discussing the upcoming challenge with the press (via Football.London), Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was asked about how Ten Hag is doing and whether the pressure he is under is warranted.

He said: “There’s always some manager under pressure, there must be a spinning board with all our faces on and whoever it lands on he cops it for a week or two.

“I think Erik’s in a really tough job and he’s done really well. He keeps mentioning he’s won two trophies and that’s not insignificant, everyone keeps telling me that’s all I have to do, but it’s not all you have to do, because when you do that there’s always more. He’s done a great job, a difficult job.”

A big game for both managers

Only two weeks ago, there appeared to be a lot of pressure on Postecoglou, with some fans and pundits losing patience with his approach to the game after a couple of defeats.

Now, that has all turned around, but it still goes without saying that both managers stand to gain (or lose) a lot depending on the result at the weekend. Both teams have seven points from five games, but a win would propel them into the top half of the table, while defeat would raise questions once more.

Patience is key

Spurs fans, and those fickle pundits, need to remember that we are only just into the second year of Ange’s tenure here, and are still seeing things take shape. It is clear we have made progress, and more and more facets of our game are improving week on week.

By the end of the season, I am confident any talk of Ange being in trouble will look ridiculous, especially when he’s got a trophy in his hands.
