Pakistan calls for inclusive Government in Afghanistan at UN summit

0

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, in the UN General Assembly, called on the Taliban to work towards forming an inclusive government. Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan supports the expectations of the international community and urges the Taliban to respect human rights, especially women’s rights.

On Friday, September 27, during the fourth day of the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed Pakistan’s desire for Afghanistan to stabilize as soon as possible.

He clarified that currently, terrorist groups such as “ISIS-Khorasan, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Al-Qaeda, Fatan-al-Khawarij,” and several others are present in Afghanistan.

Shehbaz Sharif also urged the Taliban to combat terrorism, particularly those responsible for deadly attacks in Pakistan.

Earlier, on Wednesday, September 25, the foreign ministers of Germany, Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands warned that if the situation for women and girls in Afghanistan does not change, they will file a complaint against the Taliban at the International Court of Justice.

The Taliban have claimed that insecurity in Pakistan is an internal matter of that country and denied the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

The international community continues to urge the Taliban to form an inclusive government and address human rights issues, particularly concerning women.

However, the Taliban’s rejection of these calls, along with their denial of the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, highlights the growing tension between global expectations and the Taliban’s governance approach.

This ongoing situation leaves Afghanistan in a state of uncertainty, especially for its citizens and neighboring countries.
