Match Preview: Dunfermline Athletic vs Queen’s Park
Queen’s Park head to Fife for the first time in the Championship this season when they play Dunfermline Athletic at the KDM Group East End Park.
The sides have played each other six times since the 20’s started with three Queen’s Park wins, two draws and one win for Dunfermline.
The first of those half dozen meetings came at Firhill in early May 2022 when the sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg of a Championship play-off. Three days later Queen’s scored right at the death through Simon Murray to win 1-0 on aggregate and relegate their hosts.
Dunfermline gained a measure of revenge just over a year ago when they ruined Queen’s return to playing at The National Stadium at Hampden when they triumphed 2-0 thanks to a goal in each half from Lewis McCann.
The next two meetings went the way of the Glasgow side with a long wait for three points last season ending in 2-1 success just after 2024 was ushered in, under the guidance of temporary manager Paul Nuijten.
With one time Dunfermline First Team Coach Callum Davidson now in charge QP earned a 3-0 February Fife win thanks to second half goals from Jack Turner, Dom Thomas and Mackenzie Carse.
The last meeting between the clubs was a goalless draw in April with a recent Reserve League encounter ending in a 2-0 win for Dunfermline.
Callum and Will Tizzard met up with members of the Queen’s Park Media Team to discuss the game –

The season so far
Queen’s Park head east sitting in fifth place in the early Championship table with Dunfermline three places below having accumulated four points less.
Wins over Airdrieonians and Morton, added to draws with Livingston and Ayr United, have provided the points for Callum Davidson’s side.
Dunfermline’s points have come from a home draw with Ayr United at the end of August and a fine Fife Friday night Derby win over visitors Raith Rovers that was seen live on the BBC Scotland Channel.
The win over the Kirkcaldy men who had Ewan Murray sent off early came through second half goals from Ewan Otoo and David Wotherspoon. That success set Dunfermline up for a trip to Partick Thistle last weekend where they looked good for a point before going down 1-0 to a very late goal.
In cup competitions so far, Dunfermline have had a mixed time of things as they failed to get out of their Premier Sports Cup group but progressed in the SPFL Trust Trophy.
The Premier Sports campaign started with a win over The Spartans however defeats from Forfar, Livingston and Cove Rangers ended hopes of a run in that competition.
In the SPFL Trust Trophy one Fife side has been seen off and another Fife side is to come as the reward for defeating East Fife in Round Three for James McPake’s side is to host Kelty Hearts, the day after Queen’s Park travel to Annan.
Both sides now that a win in these games bags a place in the quarter finals.
