SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man was accused of impersonating a police officer after he was pulled over on Long Island on Thursday, according to Southampton Town Police.

Police pulled over 56-year-old Brian Garcia in Southampton for allegedly committing several vehicle and traffic law violations, authorities said. Garcia is accused of presenting a police shield and police ID card to the officer who pulled him over when asked for identification.

Garcia also allegedly claimed he was employed by the Suffolk County Police Department, authorities said.

An investigation into Garcia revealed that the police ID was fake and that he's not employed with the SCPD, according to authorities.

He was arrested and charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer, criminal impersonation and possession of a forged instrument.
