Nearly 1,000 'Game of Thrones' Props and Costumes Up for Auction

For eight years, the hit HBO series Game of Thrones dominated the TV landscape and cemented its spot as one of the biggest series of the past two decades. It's been five years since the show went off the air, and now, fans around the world will be able to own a piece of the iconic series forever—for a price, of course.

From now through Oct. 12, Heritage Auctions will be selling off nearly 1,000 props, costumes, set dressings, and other objects from the making of Game of Thrones as part of a special auction dedicated to the series. Everything from Jon Snow’s sword and Jaime Lannister’s golden hand to White Walker ensembles and the original melted Iron Throne itself are up for grabs.

"Game of Thrones has been one of HBO's most successful series and has created an incredible and dedicated fan base around the world," HBO Production Executive Cice President Janet Graham Borba said in a statement. "We are excited to give fans an opportunity to take home a little piece of Westeros, while also giving them a glimpse of the creativity and the groundbreaking work that went into the series."

Acclaimed costume designer Michele Clapton, who won three Emmy Awards for her work on the show, added that it's "heartwarming" to see her Game of Thrones costumes go on to "have another life."

"You design things for a television show, and usually that’s the extent of their lifespan: They get put in boxes and stored away," Clapton said. "I am very fortunate that these costumes will have an afterlife. I find it’s rather comforting to know they will carry on, that they’re still loved and talked about. Now they can all go off and have their great lives."

Proxy bidding runs until Oct. 10. The live auction will take place from Oct. 10 through 12. So if you're interested in getting something, start getting your funds in order as soon as possible.
