WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- A Louisiana man has been arrested and charged with sex crimes involving an 8-year-old girl, authorities said.

Norvall Thames Mize, 65, of West Monroe, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape and indecent behavior with juveniles.

Investigators of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office were called Sept. 19 to a juvenile sex crime investigation. Officials said an 8-year-old victim disclosed to their counselor that they woke up in Mize's bed and the victim's genital area was wet.

According to court documents, Mize was accused of committing sexual acts on the juvenile victim. Authorities interviewed the victim and were advised that Mize allegedly sexually assaulted the victim when he thought the victim was asleep.

Mize was also accused of taking nude photos of the victim. Officials then contacted Mize and he allegedly admitted to taking nude pictures of the victim and sleeping in the bed nude with the victim. Mize also mentioned that he deleted the nude pictures of the victim at a later time.

He was released from the Ouachita Correctional Center after posting a $175,000 bond.
