Bunkie High School student arrested after threatening to 'shoot up' school
BUNKIE, La. (WNTZ) -- A 14-year-old girl was arrested and charged with terrorizing after threatening Bunkie High School on Wednesday, authorities said.
The Avoyelles Parish 911 Communication Center received a call at 7:07 a.m. Wednesday from a female subject threatening to “shoot up” Bunkie High School. The Bunkie High School Resource Officer, APSO Deputies and the Bunkie Police Department were immediately notified and responded to the school to protect the children and teachers. The school was placed on lockdown.
Investigators said a 14-year-old student of Bunkie High School had made a prank call to the 911 Center using her cell phone. The student allegedly made the call from the school campus. The Bunkie Police Department subsequently arrested the juvenile for terrorizing, and she was released to her parents.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat said he would like to thank all of the law enforcement professionals who responded to Bunkie High School and for quickly determining that the call was not a credible threat.
