NYSP: Canajoharie man arrested for making terroristic threat

CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Canajoharie man was arrested Wednesday by State Police and the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force. Justin Oconnor, 54, allegedly controlled a social media account where multiple terroristic threats were made and now faces multiple charges.

Troopers say on Sept. 24, they received information regarding multiple terroristic threats made on a social media app. An investigation into the threats revealed Oconnor allegedly controlled the account and is allegedly responsible for making threats towards public officials, law enforcement and other protected groups.

Charges:

  • Making a Terroristic Threat
  • Criminal Possession of a weapon in the third-degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third-degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third-degree
  • Unlawful Purchase of Body Armor

In result, a Temporary Risk Protection order was issued Wednesday. Troopers say the order resulted in the discovery of an illegal gun, body armor and multiple illegal high-capacity gun magazines.

Oconnor was arraigned at the Canajoharie Town Court. He was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond or a $60,000 partially secured bond.
