DOJ: Colonie man pleads guilty to child sexploitation

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), a Colonie man pleaded guilty to the sexual exploitation of a child on Wednesday. Thomas Berrington, 33, faces between 15 and 60 years in prison.

Berrington admitted that between June 2023 and January 2024, he repeatedly sexually abused a minor below the age of nine for child sex abuse images and videos with this guilty plea. His sentencing is scheduled for January 30.

Along with prison time, Berrington faces a probation period of five years to life and a fine of up to $250,000. He will also be ordered to pay restitution to the victim, forfeit the device he used to commit the crime, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
