Dow Jones gains 260 points, S&P 500 hits new record

NEW YORK, New York - A drop in U.S. weekly jobless claims inspired across-the-board gains on Wall Street on Thursday.

Durable goods orders for August were unchanged against expectations for a decline, and the final reading of second-quarter GDP was certified at a relatively robust 3 percent.

"If there's a problem in the labor market, it's not showing up in the weekly jobless claims data. As is always the ca
