The special counsel prosecuting former President Donald Trump's election subversion case has filed sealed documents containing previously unseen evidence, according to a report.

Jack Smith's team filed the documents as of 4:40 p.m. Eastern Time, Peter Carr, spokesman for the special counsel office, told CNN.

The outlet reported that the new evidence could include grand jury interview transcripts and FBI notes from witnesses such as Vice President Mike Pence, Ivanka Trump and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Smith was appointed to investigate Trump's actions related to the 2020 election and was forced to file a slimmed-down indictment in the Washington D.C. election subversion case.

The indictment charges Trump with four federal crimes: Conspiracy to defraud the United States; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and conspiracy against the right to vote and have one’s vote counted.

Smith was expected to file a massive brief of up to 180 pages detailing the evidence against Trump.
