Kansas iKan website can now save you a trip to the DMV

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) is revealing multiple updates to its popular iKan website Wednesday.

The KDOR announced in a press release on Sept. 25 that Kansans can now use iKan to update their vehicle's address up to 90 days before their renewal date. This process used to require a trip to the local DMV office.

“Our goal with iKan has always been to make vehicle and driver services readily available to all Kansans,” said David Harper, KDOR Division of Vehicles Director. “This new feature is a significant step towards that vision, allowing us to better serve Kansans and improving the customer experience by reducing the need for in-office visits.”

Kansas residents were first introduced to iKan back in 2018 with services encompassing multiple state agencies to give Kansans easy access. The website allows people to renew driver's and CDL licenses, ID cards and vehicle registrations. It also allows for the order of birth, death and marriage certificates.

“The Kansas Department of Revenue is always looking for ways to improve their service offerings through iKan, and we are excited to continue our partnership,” said Katie Beth DeSchepper, General Manager of DMV for PayIt. “The enhancements we’ve made to the user experience and the addition of vehicle address changes directly result from collaboration with Kansas and user feedback we’ve received. These updates also make it easier for us to deploy new services in the future, which will ultimately make the iKan experience even better.”
