Tottenham are holding talks with the agents of Sporting Lisbon star

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are now holding talks with the entourage of prolific Sporting Lisbon striker, Viktor Gyokeres.

Viktor Gyokeres is having a stellar season

Gyokeres’ reputation continues to grow, with the centre-forward having been on fire at the start of the new season, with the Swede having scored 11 times in just eight appearances across all competitions so far in 2024-25 (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old is now being linked with a move to the Premier League, with CaughtOffside even claiming a few days ago that Tottenham are the club who are showing the most concrete interest in the player.

This has now been backed up by TEAMtalk, who allege that Gyokeres is near the top of Spurs’ wishlist to strengthen their attack in January.

Spurs are in talks with Gyokeres’ agents

The report says that the Lilywhites ‘are keeping alive the contacts’ with the striker’s entourage and see him as someone who can be a ‘very important option’ for them next year.

However, the outlet points out that Arsenal have also recently enquired about Gyokeres while Liverpool and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on his situation.

The publication asserts that the Sweden international is protected by a £83m release clause in his current contract with Sporting.

In the post-PSR era, I would be surprised if any club is willing to spend over £80m on one player.

However, if you are going to spend that sort of money, it should be on a world-class number nine and Gyokeres is undoubtedly one of the best in Europe at the moment.
