Trai mulls over withdrawal of OTT licensing consultation

India's telecom regulator, Trai, is considering withdrawing its consultation paper on licensing for OTT communication services. This follows Bharti Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal's call for regulatory oversight of internet-based voice and messaging services to combat spam and cyber frauds. Trai chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti stated that the issue is under review.
